Sunday Craft Pop-Ups - Every Sunday 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Our Sunday Craft Pop-Ups have begun, and we have had a fantastic response! We have lots of wonderful local crafters joining us to sell their wares, demonstrate their skills and give lessons.

Stalls are now fully booked until Christmas, but if you would be interested in booking a stall in the new year, please email us at events@bannerbooks.ie

Late Night Shopping, Thursday 4, 11 and 18, until 8.00pm

Late Night Christmas Shopping in Kilrush will be on for not just one, but three Thursdays this year - the 4th, 11th and 18th of December. We are one of 19 businesses in town that will be open until 8pm. As a thank you for supporting this excellent initiative, for every purchase made you’ll be entered into a raffle with €500 of vouchers and a hamper to be won!

There will be mulled wine, mince pies and other goodies in some shops, and we will have pop-up crafts from Kilrush crafters including jewellery, textiles and original artworks. It’s a great opportunity to shop locally at independent stores and soak up the festive spirit. Kindly supported by Clare County Council.

Banner Books Publishing

CALLOUT FOR MYSTERY GENRE MANUSCRIPTS

Banner Books is looking for mystery novels set in Ireland, with a view to publication. We would like to see long short stories (about 14,000 words), novellas (about 40,000-50,000 words) or full-length novels (65,000-85,000 words). It can be cosy or gritty (but not police procedural, please), stand alone or first in a series, but it must include a strong sense of place (landscape, landmark). Also, please keep it real – no talking dogs, sleuthing cats, ghosts or telepathic hamsters.

How to submit:

• Full manuscript only.

• Word processed document only (saved as a .doc or .docx).

• Use your novel title as the file name.

• Document set up as A4 paper size; double spacing; Times New Roman 12pt; unjustified.

• No formatting, except for italics where needed and bold for headings.

• Include a synopsis as a separate document. Use ‘[your novel title] synopsis’ as the file name.

• Send as attachments to an email to publish@bannerbooks.ie.

• Your real name, your pen name (if you use one), address and telephone number, novel title and word count must be in the body of the email.

Note:

1. The manuscript must be entirely your own work (co-authors are welcome to submit).

2. None of the manuscript is to be written by AI.

3. Submissions should not have been previously published in any format.

Note that all publishing costs will be borne by Banner Books for any manuscript accepted for publication and after both parties have signed a contract.

Book Launch - Two Islands by Eilish McCarthy

Saturday 6 December, 7.00 pm at Joseph McHugh’s Pub, Liscannor

Two Islands: Growing Up in County Clare – Liscannor, Inis Oirr and Ennis is a memoir by Eilish McCarthy, published by Banner Books. This warm and witty memoir of a childhood in County Clare will delight, remind and inform you of a way of life for many children brought up in rural Ireland – harder times in many ways, but also simpler, when neighbours helped each other and children made their own entertainment.

All are welcome to the launch in Joseph McHugh's Pub on Main Street, Liscannor, where Eilish will be talking about the book, with the brilliant Enda Byrt joining her as a special guest. There will be drinks and nibbles to enjoy while you listen.

You can find out more about Eilish’s book, and purchase a copy HERE

Sunday 7th, 11.00 am to 4.00 pm Mountshannon Christmas Market

This wonderful market is even bigger this year, and will be spread over 2 venues with outdoor stalls too! You will find Banner Books in the Community Hall.
